Hi Ines.
When you see this coment, the pagent has finished, maybe.I feel so sorry to you and Emiri about our crazy old-fasshoned ppl before Emiri leave Japan.I think it deprived valuable time for ready against the pagent.
But,Emiri experienced and she strengthend more I believe. I’m now with PC to see how beautiful Emiri is in this wolrd.
I wish you gonna drink nice after the pageant with great result!
with full of love to you
- leesora Says:
Hi Ines, I can’t wait until the pageant!! I can’t figure out who will win!
- yarinda Says:
Hi Ines ,
After being a big fan of your for long time, I wish my country Thailand could have a wonderful training and director like you…
I realy wish for Emiri tonight. I love her most. i wish she could reach the finalists!! She’s gorgeous and look much better any other Asian. If any Asian could get top five, for sure it would be Emiri..go g ogo…xx
- Diego Says:
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EMIRI^^
- Tammy Says:
I just saw the show. I could not believe they didn’t call her name.
- lisa Says:
its sad Emiri didnt make it. hope she could enjoy the rest of night.
- Tommy Says:
Wow, I cannot believe it either. They did not choose anyone from Asia. No one can convince me Emiri is not in the top 15 compared to some of those women. I thought Mexico and Canada were also robbed. I wonder what these judges were thinking.
I truly believe this was an unfair and unjust vote.I think Emiri did a wonderful job and you did a wonderful job too Ines. You have done so much for the confidence and image of Japanese/Asian women in the Miss Universe pageant, and that is what counts.
- Meg Says:
I can’t believe non of the Asia delegates made it to the top 15 except Australia… I didn’t watch the show so don’t know what happened. Will wait for your update Ines.
- which Says:
everyone say that the biggest mistake was you made Emiri tanned orange, and trainned her to speak something funny on interview.
i think Emiri is one of the best Miss Universe Japan,I’m so sorry for her.because everyone thought she deserved top 5,she is victim…
And I can’t believe there is no Asia,Phillipine,Indonasia,Vietnam!
- Mireya Says:
Too bad that Emiri even did not make it even for top 15:( I like Miss Australia, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Maybe Australia will be the one.
- Mireya Says:
Nope, Venezuela again.
- leesora Says:
Hey Ines, Tell Emiri not to feel so bad. Like I said, I really felt like this was the year for the Europeans. European candidates were EXTREMELY strong unlike last year. I had a bad feeling that Emiri and the other beautiful Asians ( Vietnam, China, Phillipines, and Indonesia) would be over lookd because of the wonderful European candidates they had this year. Latinas were strong too so…its unfortunate….I hope they they would have more dark skinned blacks and asians in the top 15 from now on. I don’t think its good for the pageant to add 1 or 2 asians and blacks every year and then excluding all the asians this year.
- Tommy Says:
Yes there were strong European candidates, but out of the top 15 there were maybe 8 or 9 candidates that I thought Emiri was much more photogenic than. And while I congratulate Miss Venezuela, isn’t 18 years old a little too young to be anointed as the Miss Universe?
- leesora Says:
@ Tommy
tommy 8 out of 15 is more than half! lol half of the top 15 were Europeans. WOW I didn’t know Miss Venezuela is 18…..honestly though she looks older than 18…she could pass for 25…
- oreodas Says:
felt bad for the strong asian contenders and ethiopia and curacao.
the competition is getting boring. expected the judges to field tough questions for the top 5 (similar to miss usa this year) that ask the views about social, economic, and political global concerns. only the question for dr about hiv/aids mandatory testing was not predictable. more substantive questions next time please… nor more inner beauty and all that crap
- Diego Says:
I can’t believe, it’s notfair!!!!!!!!
Whyyyyyyyy???
T_T
- Tommy Says:
Leesora I’d say that Miss Japan was as good as or even better than the following that made it to the top 15:
USA
Puerto Rico
Albania
Czech
Dominican Republic
Kosovo
South AfricaIt always seems like the same country makes it to the top 15 every single year, Miss USA, Miss Venezuela, Miss Puerto Rico. And once in a while they will stick in a Black or Asian contestant to make it more ‘diverse.’ There does seem to be a pattern, and I think next year the judges will pick one (or two Asians) in the top 15 to make up for this year. Who knows what goes through the minds of the judges.
- bounce Says:
Ines…what can you say about this years Miss Universe? i love Emiri and I love Bianca as well….Ive been rooting for them yet the TOP 15 DISAPPOINTED ME..as well as the winner….do you think Venezuela deserves to win it again? many people say that this is the worse miss universe ever…what can you say about this?
- leesora Says:
@ Tommy…
I agree….It is the same country that makes the top 15…I do agree that next year they will pick two asians in the top 15 to make up for this year. It’s K Emiri!! keep your head up ….
- Liana Says:
I was disappointed by the result, but Ines you made a great job. I hope next time they choose at least Africans or Asians in the top 15. This year, Indonesia and Japan should have been at least in top 15. All the top 5 had extremely silly answers…especially miss Dominican Republican saying that it should be compulsory HIV tests…Has she even thought of the possibility of discrimination in the workplace?Venezuela might not have even understood the question….anyway, good luck next year!!
- Takeshi Says:
Ines…
What a disappointing show…
It was FRUSTRANTING…
Really really really disappointing
I still can’t believe it
- Diego Says:
I’m cryyyyy, Emiri we love you!!!!!
- Noemí Says:
OMG! =( I feel so frustrated, I can’t believe the unfairness of this year judges. I’m in a total shock!!! Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Mexico didn’t even make top 15!!! >.< what a disappointment. And also they could have given South Africa a better rank, she was simply the most stunning one of the top 10. AHHHHH I still can’t believe it. Waaaa and I really wanted to see Emiri on her evening gown T_T
Ines you did a great job this year as always, you, Emiri and all your staff are a true inspiration for all women. Thank you for teaching us that confidence, hard work and having fun is the way to go.
Emiri we love you, you are beautiful and you did a fantastic work =), you still have more and more experiences to live, and I’m sure they will be wonderful!!
Hugs & kisses from México ♡

Comment vas tu ?

TO BE YOUR FRIEND AND CO-WORKER !!!!!

I believed asian girls would do so much better than this.
at least Emiri should have been in the top 10.Anyway, I appreciate you and Emiri, MUJ have contributed a lot to Japanese women.
you guys gave us the confidence,
and I am proud of being Japanese woman.
thanks.

Hi Ines,
So sad to see Emiri unplaced but her journey does not stop here. She fought hard until the end and I’ll always be a fan of hers. Please post a picture of Emiri in her finale gown (I believe its a black Gucci). Thanks from a Filipino fan. =)
- yuka Says:
Even She didn’t make it for top15,she did a great job anyway. She was so elegant and beautiful at that performance..
I wansn’t happy for that result,of course, well, she showed the beutiness, and did a 100% performance…So just I want to say, otukare sama deshita!! and you too, ines san, please take a good care of you, and appreciate your wonderful job as always!!

IT WAS A GREAT TREACHERY PLANNED BY MISS UNIVERSE ORGANISATION.

OMG, MU needs to be modernized and evolved!!! There is no sense of modern and intelligence! Are they going back to 1990’s , 80’s and 70’s…? who gets inspired by MU? I see a huge gap bet. MU and MUJ. Ines help them!
- rara Says:
Its Ines fault for letting Emiri wear a trash gown. If Ines just let Emiri used the Gucci gown right away during the Preliminary… See, your gucci gown now is so useless!
- Gil Says:
Response to Liana: Of course Venezuela understood the final question; She was asked whether there’re still barriers for women to achieve her goals when facing large corporations. And Venezuela answered confidently that today men and women are equal and therefore there are no more discrimination against women. Are you just jealous or what if we were to put you on stage I don’t think you would do any better with all the stress and tension with millions of people watching you! And 18 is not young at all (Alicia Machado from Venezuela was also 18 when she was crowned Miss Universe 1996)
- huala kua Says:
let’s protest against Donald Trump and near Donald Trump Org.

Dear Madamme Ines!
I am one of your biggest fan and this is my first post. I have been following your blog since 2007 and I truly admire you and your magnificent work. MUJ team must be very proud of you. I really enjoy reading your posts about fashion and other inspirational things. They really make my day. Each day. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I was rooting for Emiri. For me and many others (my friends) she is The One. The most beautiful, elegant and sophisticated young woman. I am wishing you and Emiri all the best in the future. Love&light,
Mimmi
- oliva Says:
I was disappointed at the lack of diversity in the top 15. I suspected that they wanted a Euro focus but a few of them should have been replaced by other candidates. Remember its the judges and the Miss U organization who pick the top 15. Meaning that they bump off the 5 or so who were supposed to be up there
I was glad that Belgium and France made it. I loved France’s gown and I was surprised that she did not make the top 5. But then again I saw the video online and I was not there live.I thought that the show was horrible last night. It felt sloppy and rushed.
But I am happy that Stefania won. She gave the best answer and she looked like a vintage glam queen.I would have loved to see more Asians and Africans last night though.

This year’s MU was totally racist…. they just chose caucasians and latinos, and putted Miss South Africa to complement the color a little. SMH
Of course they’re all beautiful, but I don’t understand what Asian/Black contestants did NOT have to be in the top 15…
- RJ Says:
Oh, what to say when everything is all said and done. Venezuela is a pageant-obsessed country. It makes sense that Venezuela dominates world’s pageants.
The only good thing about last night’s MU show is us fans saw Riyo Mori Miss Universe 2007 again!
Yay…Congrats to the new MU; better luck to Asian/African delegates next year.
- Jun Says:
It is such a shame that Emiri did not make it, as well as others from Asia and the black girls. They were all so beautiful. Emiri possesses such an aura of sophistication that that made her outshining other candidates.
However, to be honest, I hated the altered version of Japan’s national costume. It was So So So much better – it was fierce, cute, and playful all at the same time. The new one – simply “huh?”
Good luck to Ines and MUJ for the coming years.
- Tommy Says:
I think my main point is that Miss Japan and a few others were more worthy of being in the top 15 than some of the women chosen, from an aesthetic point.
I am honest, if I didn’t think Emiri was deserving of a top 15 or even higher, I would be the first to say so. But I cannot say so, because she is a fabulous Miss Universe contestant. I don’t care about ‘racial quotas.’ I don’t believe in putting someone in the finals based solely on their race. But at the same time when I see someone that deserves to be in the finals compared to those chosen, then I have a problem.
- Aly Says:
this is just so unfair and the did not put in 1 contestant from Asia for whatever reason it is because Japan and Vietnam were so strong.
And Europeans, a storm, not a real storm though cause Iceland and Croatia? Yuck!
Probably they’re hosting in Croatia next year and that’s why but still, it’s so weird for Kosovo and Albania too. Kosovo is so super thin and lifeless and she made it to 2nd runner up. Wow!
Puerto Rico looks plastic and we did not see Colombia, Russia or the Netherlands.
Finally, one thing i like about this pageant this year, is Dayana’s energy. She’s just all crazy and fun and dropped the crown and still jumping. Wish she keeps being Miss Universe.
- Andy! Says:
Hi Ines…
I was so sorry last night when Emire didn’t makie it into the TOP 15, she really deserved it.

Ines,
Donald Trumo select 5 girls, is this true????
- Marie Says:
This was the worse Miss Universe ever. I don’t like how MU is evolving. It seems it’s all about money!! I miss the days where they interviewed all the semi-finalists, so it is a more fair and personal way to get to know each of the semi-finalists. I don’t see how things are judged fairly… it is just up to chance. How does a contestant prepare for that? I hope you and beautiful Miss Japan are doing well. Don’t lose the faith.
- cheese Says:
Dear Ines, I’ve really enjoyed following MU2009 via your website. But is it only me? I felt Emiri had changed her makeup after she arrived in the Bahamas. In some of the photos, I wudn’t have recognized her if she hadn’t worn her sash. She was radiant but her new look made her too much like the other girls, maybe? I haven’t had the chance to see the pageant yet, so i don’t know how she looked on the big night but i don’t think her closeup photo on the MU website is as pretty as her other pictures taken in Japan or in her Proactive commercial.
Nevertheless, she was definitely the best dresser; I love watching what the girls wear daily.
I cud tell Emiri was having a time of her life over there so “otsukare sama” to you both. Emiri is still so young I’m sure tons of exciting opportunities are lying ahead. Best wishes!!
- clint Says:
konbanwa…i was shocked to death after seeing the top15…none of faves make it to the cut neither any ASIAN GIRLS especially EMIRI and BIANCA..then for the very 6th time its Venezuela…i do believe Venezuelan Girls might be awesome but the Asian Stunners do have the rights to be included even in the Finest 15…it is not that im Asian but with their performance and appearance they deserve it…anyways THANKS ALOT INES FOR LETTING US SHONE THE BEAUTY THAT EMIRI HAD..WHATEVER HAPPENS EMIRI WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE BEST DELEGATES I’VE SEEN AND I LOVED ZUTTO….the same way with you ines…hoping to see your rampage next year..ToT…
- Tommy Says:
Hi Ines I hope Emiri and you are doing well. I know the judging is unfair but that happens unfortunately. Many beautiful women also did not make top 15 like Miss Mexico so Emiri is not alone. You did nothing wrong with Emiri’s costume, makeup, or training. Many, many people around the world know that Emiri is beautiful and deserve better. Take care.
- Amy Says:
What a poor, unfair, and unpleasant choice of Mr. Donald Trump, or the preliminaries’ judges? What’s the justification of this?I got a big shock for the top 15. There are many other girls a lot better than those who passed the entrance. Really feel sorry for Colombia,Russia,Netherlands,Japan,Hungary,Mexico,Indonesia and Vietnam.
Very DISAPPOINTED!
- Gordon Says:
I had this realization that any delegate can win if Mr. Trump wants her too.
After seeing the top 15 get called, I realized that business and political factors actually play a BIGGER part in a delegate’s chance of placing in the semis rather than her actual performance.
The MUO is losing its credibility as an international pageant.
It’s all based now on business, business, and more business.
- unbiasedbystander Says:
MU has become very political especially after Donald Trump took over it. It used to be the premier international beauty pageant, not anymore. Any beauty pageant enthusiast or authority knows that Miss World has more credibility and integrity than MU. In fact, its just a matter of time when Miss Earth will outrank MU.
Czech Republic will always be on the TOP 15 because of Trump’s affinity to it. It is a common knowledge that Trump approves first the list of semi-finalists and finalists and ultimately, the winner. He has the final word.
Another common knowledge is that MU has business/financial undertones to it. Usually, the winning country will either get something from Trump or Trump will or would eventually invest or have some kind of “something” going with the winning country.
Majority of countries now who award multiple titles/crowns in one telecast/pageant consider and place Miss World as the top prize. For example, Philippines which is a beauty pageant crazy country used to announce their MU delegate winner last. Not anymore.
Even in total country participation, Miss World has more delegates, sometimes over 100 women, compared to MU’s 80 or less. Miss Earth is also gaining ground with delegate/country participation.
Trump will eventually kill MU (same fate as Miss America’s)
- A.K Says:
Hey Ines, don’t worry, you did nothing wrong, you prepared Emiri extremely well, Emiri was the front runner for the crown. Unfortunately, Donald Trump spoils the top 15. I’m so sad that Japan, Vietnam and Phillipines did not make the cut, such wasted beauties. How are you and Emiri feeling? Why do you think Japan did not make it? Anyway, take Care.
- Pj Franz Says:
I feel Sorry that Japan, wasn’t called she was a favorite, until she wore that odd gown in the preliminaries.
I hope Japan will not make a mistakes again in choosing their gowns, it happened it with Eri,Mina, She should wear the one she lend Oxana, and Yukari and now Emiri..
I hope thay don’t bring too much long gowns, it made them hard to choose the right one, also to save money, eventhough Japan Is a rich cuntry
Miss Universe 2009 result was not good.
The Fire in Me dies with Jpan, not making it, I hope they come back Big next year.Goodluck to Miss Japan Organization, production wise, staff wise and revene wise.
Good ratings at Japanese TV. Hope Japan Government get interested in Hosting Miss UNiverse,,
- CHARU Says:
I loved Emiri and she deserved to be in the top 15! You’ve always been honest on your blog, please tell us your thoughts. I thouhgt Sun Lee was extremely prepared and deserved to be on top 15 last year as well… any comments and comparisons to Sun Lee?
- recullen Says:
Hello Ines and all,
first of all, I am a huge fan of Miss Universe Japan. But what happened? I loved Emiri but to me she didn’t seem as fierce on the catwalk during the prelims as everyone said she would. I also did not like her hair during the prelims, I’m sure the hot and humid weather had something to do with that.
Also, that prelim gown was cute, but not “fierce”… I’m sorry but that’s when I started to question her placement. It looked great in photos but on the stage it lost all steam, in my humble opinion.
Finally, Ines what are your thoughts on MU2009? I was very disappointed. The show was the worst in years. Where did Sweden and Croatia come from? South Africa had that “fierce” catwalk but facially looked like a tranny. The musical performances by flo-rida? He was singing about a woman spinning his head round when they go “down down”… ahhh, a bit too sleazy for MU?! All in all, I hated the entire show. The winner worked hard, but there were so many other deserving candidates.
- leesora Says:
@ Charua
I love Sun lee..I would compare her to Emiri…I don’t love her as much as Honey…but she deserved to be in the top 15 like Emiri…Emiri is my favorite Miss Japan…so its a little heartbreaking…her face and her body is crazy!!! I thought Honey Lee was robbed of her crown ( sorry to all Riyo’s fan)
- Pipo Says:
To RJ: Sorry young man, Venezuela is not a pageant-obsessed country, the asian countries are the ones, in venezuela we have more problem to face than be beauty pageant contest.Even though the nationl beauty pegeant take just 1 months and nobody pay attention to it.
- jay Says:
Hi Ines- say something please
we want to hear from you… how is Emiri? how do you feel? what is your opinion about the results?I always admire your honesty and your bravery when it comes to making a statement… your fans (and Emiri’s) would be really happy if we could hear your thoughts about what happened in the Bahamas
- athena Says:
about SunLee>>she is great,self-confidence but i think her desire to win has made her not a woman anymore..
well…it mean it s lack of “soft”,natural side of a real woman..
she is wonderful but i just see her as a soldier..not a MISS ^^ sometimes i think a real miss does need something which belongs to herself, not under pressure of what she has been trained or what she force to be..
dont try to be perfect coz u will loose your natural charming which is the real weapon helping you to shine.
Miss vietnam this year makes me also disappointed becoz she is pretty but she just tried all the time to pose as a super model,to make the sexy pose like opening the lips which doesnt macht her…Poor girl, she doesnt know to a man, just a sweet smile is called sexy..
- gabriel Says:
Leesora,
I am with you about Sun Lee and Emiri. What they had in common was that they tried a little too hard to stand out. This made them look contrived and unnatural. I still can’t get over Emiri’s national costume. What an outrage. How about a modern, fashion forward national costume that doesn’t expose one’s undies? And what about Emiri walk and dress during the evening gown competition? So awkward….
And yes, Honey Lee, is my all time favorite. She will always be my Miss Universe 2007.
- leesora Says:
@ gabriel…..
Yea I do see that they tried hard. I didn’t like Emiri’s national costume either. It is really funny how you mention her dress and walk. I didn’t think her dress was the worst but it wasn’t the best. I thought her walk was good with full of confidence. However, I saw many bloggers writing about her walk was boring….but I hope she is doing okay and I really hope Ines would post something because I am sure everyone wants to hear from her!
- Tommy Says:
I liked Emiri’s costume, it was daring and sexy. I mean, these women walk on stage in bikini’s, so I don’t see that it’s any different really. I’ve seen some of the other costumes and what were they thinking (like Miss Ireland looking like she was out there in her underwear, no offense to her or her fans as she is very beautiful).
By the way I think Emiri’s posted a message on her blog recently (link is on Ines front page). I can’t read Japanese so maybe someone can translate.
- leesora Says:
@ Tommy
I don’t think the fact that her costume showed a lot of skin was a factor to me. I know some thought it showed too much skin. I just thought it was really ugly…the colors..and the stockings…I can see a tranny wearing that but thats just me. I really wish someone would translate Emiri’s message because I sure can’t read Japanese!
- Tommy Says:
I can see where someone would find it ugly leesora. By the way I put her text in babel fish translator and this is what it said, sounds off but I think we can figure out that she seems happy:
“At present it returned!! It could not put out the result where satisfaction goes, but Training 120% Because it finished to put out, There is no regret. Everyone supporting until now Thank you truly!! When there is no supporting everyone Persevering to here, you think that this it was not. It is full with feeling of appreciation,… In the future, utilizing this experience It keeps being active in Japan. Continuation support we ask may!”
- leesora Says:
@ Tommy
Thanks!! I am so glad that she was in good spirits…I really wanted to see her in the top 15 because I knew Ines would of put her in a gorgeous gown…ugh…Its K Emiri!!!
- gabriel Says:
Tommy,
There is nothing wrong with wearing a bikini on stage. In fact, every contestant is required to do it. However, when you wear a national costume in a distasteful and disrespectful manner, it becomes ugly and repulsive. It is not about just showing skin, but about how the clothes is worn and for what purpose, and the image and impression it portrays. By the way, where is Ines??? She is probably not in the mood at the moment….totally understandable.
- leesora Says:
@ gabriel
Yea I think Ines is not in the mood right now. But I hope she comes back soon because I would love to know how she feels no asians in the top 15 and about virtually everything else..and an update on Emiri would be great.

I understand your points Gabriel but I respectfully disagree that Emiri’s costume disgraced the kimono or any Japanese traditions. I think many Miss Universe contestants through the years have added their own modern twists to their costumes. I like that Emiri’s kimono was modern and sexy but I understand not everyone will like it. I also saw other national costumes that I did not like (no disrespect to the ladies themselves, I know people out there are a bit sensitive about these things):
Miss Ireland (costume makes no sense at all and no thought was put into it): http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1754
Miss Canada (costume also makes no sense except for the material representing stone):
http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1724Miss USA (this is representative of the U.S.A?):
http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1794Miss Puerto Rico:

http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1763Now following are examples of absolutely beautiful costumes, because they truly represent the culture of their country:
Miss Thailand (Wow, breathtaking):
http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1789Miss Panama (She won the best costume):
http://www.globalbeauties.com/universe/2009/?attachment_id=1772I want to make special mention of Miss China’s costume. Like Emiri, Miss China took something native to her country as inspiration, the terra cotta statues, and made it a very modern, stylish, but also sexy costume:

Dear Ines,
I know it is such a big disappointment when Emiri did not enter the Top 15. Even I myself disappointed with the result. Anyway, I really admire your courage and strength in helping Japanese girls in the beauty pageant arena. You’ve done a great job Ines. Emiri is not a loser. The fact is she’s a fighter (just like you)!
Well, I write this comment just to let you know that I always support you Ines. I know some people may laugh at you due to your ‘comments’ and your confidence that Emiri would enter the Top 15, but just forget it. People may say what they want to say but they really don’t know how hard your work/training towards Emiri. I can see through all the pictures that you’ve posted.
Just go on Ines! Don’t ver care about what other comment on you. They just want to slag you off due to their jealousy.
Well, I really can’t wait for you to reply my comment. Keep in touch ya! Hopefully to work with you as I really want to be a beauty pageant trainer like you!
Love,
Carlos

What are you talking about? A true woman means she has to be “soft?” What does that even mean? Sun Lee was an extremely confident women who exuded sex appeal on stage and everywhere she went. She was sexy in a classy way and she wasn’t trashy. She truly represented a strong woman. It’s sad that people don’t like her for that.@ lee sora
How did they look unnatural? They definitely stood out, but it didn’t look contrived at all. They showed their sex appeal in a natural way.

@ Charu
Sun Lee was guilty of over-exaggerated poses and gestures, awful gown that didn’t suit her, too much (and obvious)plastic surgery..list goes on and on….
With regard to Emiri, she is guilty of trying to look too “modern” and “fashon forward” forgetting that she was competing in a beauty pageant and not in a supermodel contest, her awkward walk (very contrived) in her dress which looked too heavy at the bottom and inappropriate for the season and location during the EG competition, her orange tan….list goes on and on…
- T42 Says:
I thought Sun Lee’s problem as MU candidate was very simple. Her body. (including bone structure and body toning)
She was very photogenic whenever I find her images on this blog. In comparison, despite all the training, Hiroko’s images didn’t look that great, say 7 out of 10. However once the comptetion started, relooking at both girls among other delegates in movements, it was obvious even to me that, actually Hiroko was the one who meets the standard of this international competition based on western value of beauty.
The pose, what they say, the confidence issue and other good things comes, only after meeting those standards of muscle and bones!
Sun was very pretty and delicately built but a little too delicate girly body she had with beautiful but flat face which, on the other hand is very popular and adored in east Asia. I guess she was chosen as Miss Korea based on these value, so I think that was the limit of Miss Korea being MU candidate, not Sun’s fault.
I’m hoping, one day there will be MUK!!

Charu>>sorry maybe u cant get me..Calm down first!!
well not our fault coz my english is not enought to explain my thoughts..
well..for me a woman is a sweet gift from nature.
i love strong woman,self-confident,
like i said Sun Lee is GREAT!!
but her wish to win is too STRONG thats why she was so over-exaggerated(which i mean not *soft*) .
i mean i like her ,but i dont feel her as a woman on the stage,I see her as SOLDIER!I think she is sweeter in daily life

Well
to me a strong woman is a a woman who is strong in my mind but no need to advoid her natural” so*woman* outside”
because it the best weapon she has to conquer the world hope u get wat i mean

totally agreed with Gabriel
Emiri has a sweet beauty but in the competition sometime i cant realize her sweetness anymore…its a little bit fake sometimes..pity for her..Dayana and Riyo are my best fav among all of Miss Universes until now..

Are you hiding somewhere? why dont you speak? We want to hear you? Why are you hiding?
- gabriel Says:
I disagree with you T42. I thought that Sun had a great body. It was the way she projected herself that gave her some problems. And what? A flat face is “very popular” and “adored” in east Asia? LOL. Not the Korea or the East Asia that I know.
Just curious, where do you reside and what is your ethnicity?
- oliva Says:
I loved Honey Lee, she was the most beautiful candidate of 2007. Riyo is the most glamourous and fashionable Miss Universe ever! Her catwalk was super fab.
Sun Lee who was not as facially beautiful as Honey was very posh and cute. I loved her flirty walk and her black Gucci gown. Hiroko on the other hand was a chameleon. She has a very versatile beauty meaning that she looks as if she comes from a diverse ethnic background. She did no look typically Japanese and I loved it!
Emiri was very elegant and very pretty and I love, love, love, LOVE the modern and glam concept of MUJ. I enjoyed MUJ 2009 more than the Miss Universe show this year.
I can’t wait until MUJ 2010.

I agree with you that Sun had a great body…..Riyo was as thin as Sun…I think she tries to hard and I actually did not think that the tan did not suit her…it suited Hiroko very well though.

INES, WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUU??????
PLEASE SAY SOMETHING!!!!
- Tommy Says:
Ines is probably very busy. It’s not like she has a lot of free time. She may even be working on getting ready for Miss Japan 2010.
For example they have already chosen Miss Korea to compete in next year’s Miss Universe:
