He has been talking care of Kurara the entire time of the Miss Universe Japan competition and she had fun working with him again for the shoot. It is so much fun to work with Kurara, she just make everyone happy, she has a great sense of humor.

つい先日、くららはサマンサタバサの表参道ゲート店に遊びに行ったの。そう、あのゴージャスなショップ。今シーズンのバッグはどれもこれも目移りするほど素敵なものばかり。全部欲しくなってしまうくらい。皆さんも一度、チェックしてみて!それから、くららは例のトロフィーが同ショップの２Ｆで展示されているのを見つけた。「ナショナル・コスチューム最優秀賞」、たまらず抱きしめてしまったほど。今でも受賞したときと同じくらいいい気分になる。この賞は、今の日本の女性達がどんなに強くて印象的なのかを世界が認めた証だから。

Kurara went to choose a few bags at the Omotesando gorgeous store. There are so many adorable bags this season, we wanted to buy them all. You should definitely go and check it out. Kurara saw her trophy for “Best National Costume” award that she won, which was displayed on the 2nd floor and she could not resist to hug it! She is so happy to have won this award because it shows how strong and powerful Japanese women can be now.

(Kurara Chibana)

沖縄県那覇市出身。
上智大学文学部教育学科教育哲学専攻修了。
2006 ミス・ユニバース・ジャパンおよび2006ミス・ユニバース世界大会第2位。

フランス映画への興味から、上智大学在学中に1年間フランスへ語学留学、在仏期間中に大好きなフラメンコを学ぶためスペインに3ヶ月滞在。この間にフランス語ならびにスペイン語を習得する。

以前よりチャリティ活動への参加に関心があり、大学4年生の秋に、乳がんの早期発見、予防促進活動、エイズストップ基金などを通じて社会奉仕活動に積極的に参加するミス・ユニバース・ジャパンを知り自ら応募。約4,200名の応募者の中から200６年の日本代表となり、同年7月にロサンゼルスで行われた世界大会において、2006 ミス・ユニバース第2位となる。ナショナルコスチューム審査では、戦国武将の甲冑にヒントを得た衣装で最優秀賞にも選ばれる。

美しさと知性を兼ね備えた女性として注目される中、現在は、2006 ミス・ユニバース・ジャパンおよび2006ミス・ユニバース世界大会第2位として数々の雑誌やテレビに出演するなど、国内外に活躍の場を広げている。目標は国際的に活躍するインターナショナル・リポーターになること。10月からは、日本テレビの報道新番組『NEWS ZERO』において、国内外を取材し、レポーターとしてレギュラー出演する。

キックボクササイズはインストラクターの経験もあるほどの腕前で、水泳やテニスからフラメンコまでスポーツ全般をこなすスポーツ好き。また、日常心に留まったことを写真に撮ることも。

 

Originally from Naha, Okinawa.
Graduated from Sophia University, Faculty of Humanities. Majored in Education and Philosophy.
Miss Universe Japan 2006 and Miss Universe 2006 1st Runner-up.

While still a student at Sophia University, I decided to spend a year in France, due to my passion for French movies. During this period, I stayed in Spain for 3 months to master the flamenco, which I love. Thanks to my time in both countries, I am fluent in French and Spanish.

Having always been interested in charity work, I admire the Miss Universe Japan organization, which is actively involved with worthy causes such as early detection of breast cancer, AIDS Prevention and various other social service activities. And in the fall of my senior year at university, I found out about and entered into the Miss Universe Japan 2006 beauty contest. Amazingly, I was selected as the winner from approximately 4,200 entrants to become Japan’s representative and in July of the same year, I was the 1st Runner-up in the Miss Universe 2006 contest held in Los Angeles. In addition, the Kohagi body armor that I wore in the competition was chosen as the Best National Costume Award out of over 80 participating countries.

After gaining recognition as a female who combines both beauty and intelligence, I have widened my horizons at home and abroad by appearing in a number of magazines and television programs as Miss Universe Japan 2006 and the Miss Universe 2006 1st Runner-up. My goal is to become a news reporter covering stories from across the globe. Since October, I have appeared regularly on the new Nippon Television (NTV) news show “NEWS ZERO” reporting from domestic and international locations alike.

Am interested in all forms of sports from swimming and tennis to flamenco dancing and kickboxercise, which I have also taught as an instructor. Also enjoy taking photographs of the things that make a lasting impression on me during my everyday life.
